Perfect for elevated outdoor entertaining, this reconstructed Monte Cristo sandwich is made with two swaps: homemade waffles for bread, and cheddar for smoked havarti, giving this recipe an air of refined indulgence.
- Castello Creamy Havarti grated
- Castello Smoked Havarti grated
- 1/4 cup plum or apricot preserves
- 8 waffles store-bought or homemade
- 4 slices deli turkey meat
- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 strips crispy bacon
- Tomato slices optional
- Micro Greens optional
- Maple syrup
Preheat large skillet or griddle. Spread preserves over four waffles. Layer in turkey, ham, bacon, and a generous amount of Havarti mixture. Option to add slices of tomato and micro greens. Place waffle on top, transfer to a lightly buttered griddle pan. Grill for four-six minutes or until golden and cheese has melted. Serve with maple syrup. Enjoy!
