Supporting local in home decor led me to the Money Candle at my local Home Hardware—a fun, fragrant find with a hidden toonie inside!
Created in 2001 by Stone Home Creatives in St. Marys, the original pillar candle revealed coins as it burned. In 2003, it was revamped to contain surprise cash prizes ranging from $1 to $100. Each small-batch candle (only 50 made at a time) offers great odds of a big win.
With a 70-hour burn time, the soy-based wax melts to reveal your coin. Use tweezers or a spoon to retrieve it, and if you hit the jackpot, your prize is sealed inside a glass bottle.
